24 HOUR COPY SHOPTHE NIGHT SHIFT NEVER ENDSISSUE / 001

Manny Many

Three tired, yellow-tied Mannys around an industrial copier, including a fresh copy crawling out of its tray.

ONE MAN.
TOO MANY.

Manny needed someone to cover his shift. The copier was already warm. Now the shop has seven employees, one toothbrush and a staff meeting nobody can leave. Pull up a chair. Someone has probably copied it.

At 2:14 in the morning, Manny put his face against the glass and pressed the big yellow button. He had meant to make a funny picture. What came out of the tray asked when the break started. A second copy requested a locker. By the time Manny found the manual, three of them had formed a queue for his sandwich.

Every Manny has the same crooked nose, the same ink on his sleeve and a very persuasive memory of being here first. They have tried name badges. They have tried numbers. Yesterday they tried different hats, which worked until somebody copied the hats. The original now identifies himself by a tiny paper cut. So do the others.

This is Manny Many: an expanding workforce with one personality and absolutely no cover for Tuesday. The shop is open. The manager is being disputed.

NOTES FROM THE SAME SHIFTTHREE INCIDENTS. ONE FACE.

Please take your own number.

The ticket dispenser gave everybody number twelve. Manny insists this is a coincidence. Eleven Mannys have nevertheless been waiting beside the counter since breakfast, holding identical slips and practising the sentence “I was actually next.” The display has been on twelve all day. Whoever finally serves the queue will also have to join it: his name badge is peeling, and he has been meaning to get it re-laminated.

QUEUE STATUS: IDENTICAL

The staff photo needs another row.

Picture day began with four employees and ended with a panoramic setting. The photographer asked for a natural smile. Every Manny made the same small mistake with his mouth. Someone blinked, which caused an argument about whether everyone had blinked. The finished photograph now hangs in reception with a caption reading OUR PEOPLE. The frame is already too small. There is another Manny visible through the doorway carrying a chair.

HEADCOUNT: TRY AGAIN

Lost property has found a system.

One pen, fourteen owners. Manny placed it in a box behind the counter and asked anyone claiming it to describe the bite marks. They all described the bite marks. He now lends it out against a signed form, which requires a pen to complete. The arrangement has generated considerable paperwork and almost no lending. On the bright side, the box is very easy to inventory.

THE FLOOR PLANASK FOR MANNY

Same face. Different department.

The shop has developed an impressive internal structure. Manny at the front handles enquiries. Manny beside him repeats the enquiries slightly louder. The Manny under the desk is technically on maintenance, although he went down there to retrieve a biscuit. At the back, a senior Manny has promoted himself by rolling up both sleeves.

They share a clock, a reputation and the conviction that the others have had longer breaks. A simple job can pass through six departments without travelling more than three feet. Ask who is responsible and watch the whole room point in a circle.

Put another problem in the tray.

The copier has four documents ready. Each one began as an ordinary attempt to make the shop run better. Select a file to read its current state, or press PRINT NEXT to move through the stack. The counter records your PRINT NEXT presses for this visit. Manny is keeping an eye on it, mostly because counting is one of the few tasks the Mannys have agreed to assign to a single person.

Everyone is covering Manny.

Every square on the rota says Manny. The early Manny thinks the late Manny owes him a favour. The late Manny remembers agreeing with the early Manny that somebody else should do it. They have highlighted the problem in yellow. The entire page is yellow.

“I can do your Tuesday if you can do my Tuesday.”

03 / THE JOB QUEUEROADMAP

Next in
the queue.

Four creative jobs. The first is already out of the tray; the other three are still planned. Each job gets its own sheet.

  1. Warm up the machine.

    DONE

Establish the first edition of the shop: Manny's face, the central joke and a recognisable set of visual rules. Tell the first stories as scenes from a single disastrous shift. Put the confirmed project links and token information in one place. This phase sets the reference that later copies can bend without losing the character.

OUTPUT / First portraits, first shift stories and confirmed project links.
  2. Load the blank paper.

    PLANNED

Make a small working kit for people who want to put Manny in their own mess. Include clean expressions, empty forms, speech bubbles and compositions with space for a caption. Show several examples with different kinds of jokes. A good copy should add something: a strange instruction, an office grievance or a new reason that nobody gets to go home.

OUTPUT / Expression pack, printable-style templates and caption examples.
  3. Accept unusual jobs.

    PLANNED

Open a fictional job queue for community ideas. Ask for documents that should never have reached the machine: a permission slip signed by a chair, a menu with one increasingly detailed sandwich, an apology requiring duplicate apologies. Turn selected suggestions into illustrated job sheets and credit their contributors. Keep the finished work together so running jokes remain easy to find.

OUTPUT / Community job prompts, credited illustrations and an organised job archive.
  4. Run the special edition.

    PLANNED

Gather the strongest pages into a downloadable night-shift issue. Add new artwork showing what happened between the jobs, plus a second small interactive machine for the website. Choose its function from the stories that have developed along the way. This phase is a creative plan; published releases will show what has actually been made and what is still in the tray.

OUTPUT / Digital issue, new shop scenes and another playable website feature.

INTERNAL NOTICE / 017

Three opinions.
One stapler.

The stapler is shared equipment. This sentence has been printed, laminated and placed beside the stapler. There are now three copies of the sentence. There is still only one stapler.

BEFORE YOU ASK MANNYHE HAS HEARD THIS ONE

Frequently
copied
questions.

Which one is the original Manny?

He is the one explaining that he is the original Manny. Unfortunately, this describes the entire staff. Manny Many is a fictional character and copy-shop world for a meme project. The uncertainty is part of the joke, along with the forms, the identical arguments and the sandwich that never quite goes far enough.

Does the machine actually print anything?

PRINT NEXT cycles through four written documents and increases the on-page count. The labelled file buttons jump directly to a document without adding a copy. RESET starts the counter and preview again. Everything happens on this page: no printer request, account or personal information is involved, and refreshing begins a fresh visit.

Where do I find the CA and project links?

The full contract address is in the bar under the hero and in the Token section, each with a COPY CA button. The Pump.fun and X buttons open the project's own pages. Before you use the address, check that it matches the one on the Pump.fun page.

Are the four roadmap phases finished?

Phase 01 is marked DONE: Manny's face, the first portraits, the shift stories, the token details and the project links are on this page. The other three are marked PLANNED because they describe intended creative releases: reusable artwork, community jobs and a collected edition. The shift may be fictional, but the distinction between a plan and a delivered file should be perfectly readable.

END OF SHIFT / STILL HEREPLEASE LEAVE THE MACHINE ON

PASS IT ON. IT'S WHAT HE DOES.

There is still paper in the tray. A Manny you have not met yet is carrying a cup with your name spelled almost correctly. Take a favourite scene, find someone who has survived a meeting like that, and give it another life. When you come back, the staff will be exactly as recognisable and slightly more numerous.
